Youth Mission Trip to St. Louis
Five Grace youth traveled to St. Louis with three adult leaders to give their services to our sister parish, St. John's, in St. Louis during the weekend of August 8-10. While there they performed various tasks to help with some clean up projects at the church. Apparently, they became closely acquainted with various insects that had taken up residence and did some serious gardening work. Reports are that they did manage to avoid the plentiful poison ivy in St. John's garden.
The Reverend Teresa Mithin met with the group on Friday, going with them to a local ethnic restaurant and leading them in the service of Compline. They slept in the church, worked Friday and Saturday and attended Eucharist on Sunday morning, where they were thanked enthusiastically by St. John's parishioners for their hard work. They also reported enjoying the ethnic restaurants immensely, dining at neighborhood Ethiopian and Vietnamese restaurants and discovering an Italian gelato place as well.
Missioners included Anna, Becca, Wes, John and Gabrielle. They were accompanied by D'Arcy Crane, Bob Harker and Sarah Schedler.
