Two services on February 6th
The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 6. Ash Wednesday can be thought of as a kind of baptismal branding. We are marked on our foreheads with the cross of Christ, which is a tree of life to beckon us back to the dust of the earth. Coming back to our baptism is hard work, like pruning vines, plowing the earth, or the discipline of training for a contest.
Lent is often called a journey, and this means that at the end of Lent we should expect to find ourselves somewhere different from where we started. Our destination is Easter, promised land and homeland.
Ash Wednesday is the preface to the season of Lent. Services of Holy Eucharist and Imposition of Ashes will take place at Grace Church at 12:10 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on February 6th.
