Who IS My Neighbor Anyway?
As technology has caused our world to shrink, we have become more aware of the plight of our neighbors in developing countries
Over the years there have been many lofty pledges to eradicate disease, help children and women, and wipe out hunger. The Millennium Development Goals, adopted by 189 countries at the United Nations Millennium Summit in 2000 represents a compact made by governments of both rich and poor countries outlining the challenge to eradicate poverty by 2015. July 2007 marked the half-way point for accomplishing the goals.
Grace Church is planning a celebration to mark the half-way milestone for accomplishment of the MDGs. Won’t you join us for an informal summer evening with The Rev. Stephen Dokolo, a priest from our “neighbor” diocese in Lui, Sudan, who is studying at Eden Seminary in St. Louis. Stephen will give us a personal glimpse into his homeland, our Sudanese neighbors, as he tells us about life and the Church in Lui.
The date is Thursday, August 16th at 6:00 PM in the parish hall. Please bring a dish to share and a generous donation for the Millennium Development Goals.
The evening promises to remind us that together we can make a difference! Please sign up on the bulletin board.
