This year’s “Making Disciples” conference from the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri will be “Holy Dying: A Faithful Approach to End-of-Life Issues.” The conference will offer an opportunity to reflect on the personal and engage in the theological issues surrounding death and dying.
Last year, Grace Vestry member Margaret Conroy led a Sunday Forum on funeral planning, and several parishioners expressed an interest in exploring the topic in more depth. This diocesan conference offers that opportunity.
The day includes a morning of presentations by the Rev. Pamela Dolan (Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd) and the Rev. Dan Smith (Canon to the Ordinary). Afternoon breakout sessions will be on ethics and advance directives, estate planning and elder law, funeral planning, and hospice care.
The conference will be held on Saturday, August 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (with registration beginning at 8:30) at Grace Episcopal Church, 514 East Argonne Drive, Kirkwood MO 63122. Cost (including lunch) is $20 per person, or $150 for a group of 10. Advance registration is encouraged by August 16. Details and registration form are available from Janis Greenbaum (314-651-1843 or Janis.firstname.lastname@example.org) or at http://media.diocesemo.org.s3.amazonaws.com/esm/HolyDyingConference-ESM2013.pdf
